🦋 IC Information

Character Name: Chris Halliwell
Age: 22
Canon: Charmed (1998)
Canon Point: Season 6, death
Character History: charmed.fandom.com/wiki/Chris_Halliwell

Canon Abilities:

Both his whitelighter(a kind of pacifist guardian angel) and witch abilities can be completely negated, removed, or switched with another being. Without them, he’s completely mortal.

 Whitelighter abilities:

Charges: As a whitelighter, Chris has the ability to naturally connect (or be assigned) with those he is supposed to guide and assist. This ability goes hand in hand with Sensing below. Limitations: This will be done on a character by character level and only with player consent.

Sensing: As a Whitelighter/guardian angel, Chris can sense and locate his charges, both magical and mortal. He can hear them calling him anywhere on earth (and even put you on mute), can sense/feel if they're in danger, hurt, angry, etc. They can hear the lives of their charges in their heads(although they can tune this out for privacy). He can also hear and communicate with other celestial beings, as well as prayers/calls directed at him--it's more easily done with his charges and those he already has a natural link to, but can work with others as well. Limitations: This ability may or may not extend to other celestial beings from other worlds. This will be done on a character by character level and only with player consent. This is a one directional type of communication. Chris cannot communicate in the same way back to others. Sensing may necessitate concentration.

Orbing: Chris can orb, which is a kind of teleportation. His body breaks down into blue/white orbs and reassembles at his intended destination. Limitations: Subject to game rules on teleportation. Orbing is pretty calorie intensive.

Telekinetic orbing: Moving or teleporting objects telekinetically with orbs. This ability is a combination of his whitelighter ability to orb and his witch ability of telekinesis. Limitations: Chris doesn't use this ability a lot. He tends to use telekinesis more than telekinetic orbing, although there may be circumstances where he prefers telekinetic orbing.

Photokinesis: The ability to create and manipulate light using orbs, the magic that makes up his whitelighter half. That's pretty much all it does. It can't be used offensively, but makes a great emergency light bulb and creates pretty designs.

Healing: Chris, unlike other whitelighters, cannot currently heal. He hasn't found the trigger for this ability yet. Healing is hard, and is triggered by a profound sense of love. With his background and emotional instability, it’s hard for Chris to let himself feel that deeply. I’d love for this to be something he explores and hopefully finds in game. Limitations: If he is ever taught how to heal/finds the trigger, there are some limitations. He can't heal the dead, and he can't heal himself, or self inflicted wounds (effects from imbibing alcohol also counts as a self inflicted wound). Poisons, curses and diseases that mimic or accelerate the natural order (such as accelerated aging), cannot be healed as well. It's stated that whitelighters can only heal what they are allowed to heal.

Omnilingualism: The ability to read, speak or write any language.

 Witch abilities:

Spellcasting: This ability is usually triggered by a rhyme or a haiku. It may be used in conjunction with potions. Spells cannot create something out of nothing. Spells can be used for a wide variety of issues such as to help kill a monster, make an object or disturbance disappear, help someone sleep, etc. Limitations: This will only be used with consent from the player and/or mods, as necessary. In addition, he will be reconstructing the Halliwell Book of Shadows from memory.

Scrying: Chris is able to use his abilities to scry using a crystal and a map to find objects or people. Limitations: This will only be used with consent from the player and/or mods as necessary. It can be blocked by other magic and is inaccurate/cannot be used when someone is moving fast.

Mediumship: The ability to see ghosts or otherworldly, supernatural beings.

Potion Making: The ability to make magical potions out of seemingly normal objects. He's able to tap into the object's inherent magic and transform them into a magical substance that will create a specific effect. These potions can replicate magical abilities or magical/mundane substances such as acid, creating explosions, creating substances to only harm a specific individual or turn something into something else (like an animal), etc. This is something Chris is pretty talented in. He's been shown making potions from memory or just creating new ones. In addition, he grew up learning from Piper, who was also quite talented.

Telekinesis: Has the power to move objects with his mind. Chris uses his hands to do this. It's triggered by anger. A side power of this is telekinetic crushing. Chris is able to use this ability to telekinetically crush objects. At one point in canon he uses this ability to crush the hearts of the Valkyries. Another byproduct of his telekinetic abilities is the power to affect teleportation. At one point he interferes with Leo's orb, altering his destination. Limitations: Chris will never interfere with another characters teleportation without player or mod consent.

High Resistance: Chris, like other witches in his family, has a high resistance to damage by physical and magical attacks. This has enabled him to survive otherwise lethal attacks. Limitations: A Darklighter's arrows, however, are not affected by this ability. Even a small wound, like a paper cut, when dipped in the poison used by a Darklighter, can kill him. Their poison attacks his Whitelighter half on a genetic level. As a result, the poison kills him slowly and painfully, as well as neutralizing his own powers. It can be cured by healing.

Crystal Cage: The ability to create a circular cage by tuning into individual crystals magical and electromagnetic properties. This cage can be used to trap someone or something, as well as electrocute it.

Inventory: the clothes he was killed in.

🦋 Personality

Option 1: Answer the following questions. Elaborate on the answer, especially your characters thoughts and feelings surrounding the answer. For Canon Characters, you can choose four questions. For Original Characters, you will need to choose six questions. Keep the word count to 150-400 per question.

Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?

Magic is seeped into his very nature, it's intrinsic in what he is. He's grown up with it, grown up with his heritage--and the ideas forced on him by his brother who turned their childhood house into a museum to show the world the power he came from and what he was. As a witch, Chris tends to be more violent. Like the Charmed Ones, he kills without a second thought. He tends to lean into this part of his heritage and his powers. His angelic side? His whitelighter side? Not as strong, he's repressed that through his giant daddy issues.  That and they kind of hinder his witch side in a way. Whitelighters are pacifists. Which means Chris? Is manipulative with a kill or be killed streak....and a really terrible fighter.  It's part of who he is, and that whitelighter side of himself? He's still coming to grips with it, due to the trauma and semi-resolved conflict he had with his father growing up. It’s something he’s working on, but isn’t quite there yet.

Chris has a giant inferiority complex, and does not view himself as worth while. It all revolves around not only Chris' powers and abilities (or lack there of) compared to his big brother, but also the fact that Wyatt got all the parental attention. And took over the world. Everything Chris does in comparison, is sub standard. Wyatt has always done everything first, received all the love from his parents and is just better at everything. Wyatt even got a prophecy. Chris got a big fat nothing. Chris meanwhile is the only whitelighter that cant heal. So his magic is something he hates about himself, but at the same time, it’s not something he denies is untrue. He views his inferiority as justified. How would you feel if your big brother was Darth Vader and you, were just their kid brother who they kept choosing not to kill. The self defeating hatred he contains reaches its height when he pleads with his father, while Chris himself is dying, to save his brother instead. Before his identity as a Halliwell was known, his own family and parents tell him continuously that they hate him. And he lets them. He accepts it. He knows he's worthless, and doesn't need them to tell him that. It's just vindication that he's right.

If you'd like pixies to change one event in your character's life, what would it be and why?

This undoubtedly has to be his brother Wyatt being driven insane as a result of being kidnapped and tortured as a toddler by someone he trusted. Chris went back in time in order to try and stop this from happening, even while not knowing what triggered the change in morality, or if it was Wyatt’s natural state. Chris goes so hardcore on this that he even almost prevents his own conception, and gets his parents divorced. It’s what turned Chris from the possibility of an easy going whitelighter-witch who was content in both his powers and having a pretty good moral code, to being a kind but shady loner with an ends justify the means attitude. This is a guy who threatens to kill his big brother in his cradle, not just because his big brother abused him, but because he abused the entire world. Finding out that this was a result of trauma and not a demon that warped Wyatt’s mind is something he never had thought of. Chris had already grown up with this very binary attitude, even if he himself didn’t obey it.

Wyatt turning evil impacts every decision Chris made – even who he wanted to marry. He proposed to an assassin witch, something he probably wouldn’t have pondered or been attracted to without his own traumatic experiences that the darker Wyatt brought on his life. It impacts his own abilities. When Bianca, his fiancee, is fatally wounded, Chris is still unable to open himself to love, to be that vulnerable, in order to tap into his whitelighter healing abilities. He simply can’t do it. All as a result of Wyatt. He’s actually the only known whitelighter that cannot heal, because of these psychological issues.

In addition, his entire relationship with Bianca revolves around Wyatt. From their dreams about the future and their children, literally every point in their relationship revolves around Wyatt not just as the third wheel, but their entire purpose. His darkness brought them together. And lastly, this one event is what triggers Chris’ death. He is fatally stabbed trying to protect Wyatt, reassuring his own father on his literal deathbed that nothing else matters but saving Wyatt. He dies trying to prevent his big brother from turning evil and going insane. His belief in this is so strong that he willingly accepts his own death, if Wyatt ends up saved.

What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?

The ends justify the means. His moral code and personality quirks are a direct result of the trauma he experienced growing up. With his father abandoning him to become an Elder(who Chris says had time for literally every other person in the world, including his big brother Wyatt, but him), his mother Piper (and presumably Phoebe and Paige) were killed when he was fourteen and his brother turned evil. The world Chris grew up in was a literal kill or be killed. His morals are deeply grey, but it’s simply because he’s still learning who he is and how to trust and love. Really, he needs a lot of therapy and a hug.

He is quite possibly both the best and the worst guardian angel you could ever have. While many of his plans can be manipulative, his goals and reasoning really is good and just. This is a man who does the wrong things for the right reasons--who short tracked his father for an angelic promotion…..which ended in his parents divorce and almost prevented his own conception. He tends to act, and see the big picture, while missing crucial details.

Chris has an endgame, to save his brother from turning into Darth Vader or kill him as a baby, and while he thinks what he’s doing is a surgical strike, it’s more of a scorched earth approach. He doesn’t know what the trigger or triggers are so he just flame throws everything he can find. Even if that means he kills his big brother or prevents his own conception.  He knows he needs to save Wyatt from turning evil, or smother him with a pillow as a toddler. Likewise, he’s alright with killing a baby demon because he doesn't see a baby. Everything he does, even if it may seem outwardly malicious or kind of shady, is done for the greater good. He does it because he cares, because he is half whitelighter and that angel side does come out.

Chris is also a frequent, but absolutely terrible liar and he has no problem with this. His tendency is to just not tell anyone anything, because he knows best. You will 100% know he’s lying and can probably back him into a corner really easily.

Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?

Chris already knows the spell to go back in time. Hopefully he remembers it after using it a bunch. So that's the first thing he does. Try to fix this. As for his reaction? He'd be upset, that he already tried to go back in time and it was fruitless, not knowing that Wyatt was saved after his own death. If he couldn't complete the spell to go back to his time, or before to try again? He'd take a look around, try to at least figure out what happened to his family. If Halliwells still exist. Chris is focused, and while he occasionally freaks the fuck out when things don't go his way (because he fails to consider all the options and details), he still goes back and tries again. Failure is not an option.

If that spell he used before doesn't work? That's fine. He's created time portals before. Sure he might have ended up in the Cretaceous period but....okay, it might take some refining. He'd keep trying. The fae can do it? So can he. Watch him.
